Nokia GEM, the prototype of full touch phone

Nokia has introduced a new concept of terminal, which features a touch screen covering the entire surface of the device. It is named Nokia GEM due to the presence of various polished surfaces that presents, which gives it a resemblance to a precious stone.

Nokia GEM is essentially a mobile device with a superficie which is entirely a touch screen. This allows change their appearance depending on the function choose the user.

For instance, when we choose the map function, one side of the device will disappear completely, including this virtual keyboard, and showed a map with the map of the location in which we find ourselves in detail, and by the other side of the phone will show a broader vision.

As the images show us, each and every one of the surfaces of the appliance are used to accommodate the different virtual buttons not leaving one free space. The following video detail illustrate the capabilities of Nokia GEM:

Jarkko Saunamäki, director of the team working on Nokia GEM, talks about his project as "device customizable for excellence".
It is even suggested that advertising messages might appear on the back of the phone, so it would serve as an advertising platform to leading this some discount on the invoice to the customers that accept this service.

Nokia GEM is based on the concept of not accommodating to any "dead space" the contrary to what happens in the designs of certain terminals. This is very practical and interesting but now presents certain disadvantages, the most obvious is the possible involuntary some function activation to transform the entire device into a touch screen.

But for now this is one of the few truly innovative ideas from those presented in the mobile telephony sector. Perhaps it could be the first outline of the phone of the future.

Yoigo begins to collect call unannounced diversions

Until now Telstra was the only operator that made it possible to divert the calls to another mobile phone from the same operator free of charge and diversions to other numbers other than Telstra had the normal price of a call according to the rates of each client as is the case with other operators.

But this advantage that gave us Yoigo gone unexpectedly caught off guard customers using this service with the increase in the Bill that has led to start charging a calls so far were free. We can see that it says on its website as follows:

"Divert calls to another phone, fixed or mobile, it has no additional cost, only pay for the minutes of the call to make your Telstra phone that you've diverted"

Before adding "the deviation of calls from your Telstra to another user of Telstra will not cost anything." But this phrase has disappeared this month of November.

We do not understand the reasons that have led to Telstra to not notify their customers of the change of conditions, especially taking into account the boast of simplicity, transparency and carenciad of small print that Telstra has done from the outset in its advertising, but seems to be forgetting as it grows.

Tutorial for installing applications manually

Sometimes it may be the case that we want any application to our terminal and her not find in the market, for example when we want to try apps of developers friends. But it is possible to install them out of the Market through the process which we explain below:

First of all it is necessary to activate the option "unknown sources". We reach it through settings - applications. It is option is disabled by default, already be taken active makes our phone vulnerable to attacks of applications from malicious sources. If we activate will need to be careful about what you install to avoid possible damage.

Then we will have to download a File Manager. A very good one for example is ASTRO File Manager, also one of the most popular, although within the Android Market you will find a wide variety of similar applications. This type of applications not only serve to manage the files that we have in our mobile but also to install the .apks we download from Internet.

Files that have extension .apk are a Variant of the format JAR from Java that is used to distribute and install components in Android. We will need to install an .apk in order to test an application that we develop or install some as Grooveshark or the Amazon App Store that are not available in the Market and sometimes even will help us to save us pay. Once we have the single .apk is slashing open it with the file manager and thus the application will be installed in our terminal as any application down the Market.

If you want to remove an application installed manually only have to go to settings - applications - managing applications, locate there the app and select uninstall.
